Op Zoek Naar Meer (”Looking For Something More”) is a book I wrote and illustrated for my graduation at Art Academy Minerva. I made a limited production of 25 books that sold out at the graduation show and Op Zoek Naar Meer was nominated for the Minerva Design Award. It is a book about 7 edible plants indigenous to the Netherlands even including a little fold-in recipe leporello. In the book I explain objective properties of the plants alongside narrative descriptions based in myths and legends because in my opinion people learn and remember more when information is presented narratively. To take this further I designed interactive elements in the book, such as fold-out pages and movable elements, to simulate the excitement of discovery when foraging for wild plants and mushrooms.
